The classroom rules were established through a collaboration of all student's ideas.

Our Classroom Consequences

In our classroom, we focus on the positive with the presentation of Braggin' Bones for positive behavior. However, when choices constitute consequences, the esablished ones will be followed.

The Everyday Math curriculum is one that is scientifically research-based and works on increasing their basic skills to higher-order thinking skills in mathematics. In order to achieve this, students are taught through a variety of methods in lessons that may include hands-on activities, explorations, and math games in the classroom.

Words Their Way

The El Dorado Springs Elementary is beginning to use a spelling program called “Words Their Way.” This program, which is based on the most recent educational research, encourages children to pay closer attention to words by sorting them according to sounds and meanings. After a diagnostic test, children will be grouped at a just-right-for-them level and will be challenged to build an understanding of word skills. Each student will receive a new set of words on their ‘lesson’ day. Then each night there will be a short sorting activity to be completed for the next day. These activities have been modeled in class, so your child can teach you how to do them. By going through this, the students spelling ability will increase based upon each individual child's progress.

Good Habits, Great Readers Reading and Writing

Good Habits, Great Readers is a comprehensive reading and writing program from Kindergarten through 5th grade that is based upon the seven research-based habits and strategies of good readers. The reading program supports literacy through whole group or shared instruction as well as through small group or guided reading instruction. The program incorporates recent reserach with a focus on successful literacy strategies and routines. It provides systematic instruction in the five domains of reading: phonemic awareness, phonics, fluency, vocabulary, and comprehension that must be taught in order for students to read successfully.
